Table Salt

Table salt is a great solution for dandruff. Its abrasiveness works great for scrubbing out the dandruff flakes. Just take a saltshaker and shake some salt onto your dry scalp. Give your scalp a massage working through your hair. When you find you have worked out the dry, flaky skin, wash it out using a shampoo.

Aspirin

Aspirin has the same active ingredient as many medicated dandruff shampoos, i.e. salicylic acid. Crush two aspirins to a fine powder and add it to the normal amount of shampoo that you use every time you wash your hair. Leave this mixture onto the hair for 2 minutes and then rinse well. Wash your hair again with plain shampoo.

Mouthwash

The anti-fungal properties of mouthwash help prevent dandruff-causing yeast from growing. Wash your hair with a regular shampoo and then rinse off with an alcohol-based mouthwash. This is a great way to treat a bad case of dandruff.

Tea tree oil

Coconut oil

Coconut oil is a tried and true dandruff treatment. Massage 5 tablespoons of coconut oil into your scalp before you shower and let sit for about an hour. Shampoo normally. One can also look out for a shampoo that already contains coconut oil.

Lemon

The acidity of lemon helps in balancing the pH of your scalp, which helps to keep dandruff at bay. Just massage 2 tablespoons of lemon juice into your scalp and rinse with water. Then mix 1 teaspoon lemon juice with 1 cup water and rinse your hair with it. Repeat this process on a regular basis until you see the results.

Apple cider vinegar

The acidity of apple cider vinegar changes the pH of your scalp, making it difficult for yeast to grow. Mix a quarter cup apple cider vinegar with a quarter cup of water in a spray bottle. Spritz this onto your scalp and wrap your head in a towel for 15 minutes to an hour. Then wash your hair. Repeat this twice a week.
